COVID-19 (Corona Virus disease 2019) is a respiratory infectious disease caused by a novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, that has not been previously identified in humans. The outbreak began in December 2019. Reported illnesses have ranged from mild respiratory symptoms with fever, cough, and shortness of breath to severe illness and death. Most estimates of the incubation period for SARS-CoV-2 range from 1 to 14 days. The case fatality rate is around 2%. The kit detects SARS-CoV-2 and its variants such as Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Omicron.
