Description
Novobiocin | FN59697
Novobiocin is a type of antibiotic that binds to the substrate-binding site on the enzyme, nitrate reductase. Novobiocin is used in the treatment of Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus. It has been shown to inhibit cell cycle progression and induce apoptosis in certain types of cells. Novobiocin also binds to the multidrug efflux pump and inhibits its function, thus preventing the resistance of microorganisms to other antibiotics. In addition, novobiocin has been shown to be an inhibitor for tetracycline resistance.
