Description
Nutrient Agar | DM179D
A general purpose growth medium.
Nutrient Agar is an inexpensive medium suitable for the cultivation of all bacteria which are nonexacting in their growth requirements. It functions therefore, as a general purpose medium for the maintenance of stock cultures and as a useful demonstration and teaching aid. Adequate salt and agar concentrations permit the addition of blood, serum or other enriching fluids where these are required. However for the successful growth of fastidious organisms, a medium such as Columbia Agar (DM115), Blood Agar Base (DM100) or Blood Agar Base Special (DM101) is to be preferred.
