PurKine™ Endotoxin Removal Resin
Background:
PurKine™ Endotoxin Removal Resin is effective for reducing endotoxin levels in protein samples. Endotoxins, also known as lipopolysaccharides or LPS, are cell membrane components of Gram-negative bacteria (e.g. E. coli). Endotoxins strongly influence transfection of DNA into primary cells and sensitive cultured cells, and increased endotoxin levels lead to sharply reduced transfection efficiencies. The Resin consists of 90μm beads of cross-linked 4% agarose, to which modified polymyxin B has been coupled. The portfolio allow optimization of process for maximum protein yield, stability and solubility. Tests also confirm that no decrease in performance occurs after at least five repeated uses. The PurKine™ Endotoxin Removal Resin is also available as prepacked spin column and kit formats.
