T.C.B.S. Cholera Medium | DM218D

For the bacteriological examination of food, water, milk and other dairy products.

MAST T.C.B.S. Cholera Medium is slightly modified from that of Kobayashi et al. (1963)1. It has the advantage that all faecal streptococci and most Proteus spp. are inhibited. Thus the differentiation of yellow Vibrio cholera colonies from contaminating streptococci is unnecessary.

Technical Formula

Directions
1. Suspend by swirling 90g of powder in 1 litre or the contents of the sachet in the stated volume of distilled or deionised water in a large flask.
2. Allow to stand for 15 minutes and bring to the boil until completely dissolved. DO NOT AUTOCLAVE.
3. Allow to cool to about 50°C, mix well and pour plates.
4. Immediately dry plates in an incubator.
