Description

Mouse Testosterone (T) ELISA Kit | KTE70318 from Abbkine.

Product Overwiew:

This Mouse Testosterone (T) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate T.

Background:

Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. In men, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.In addition, testosterone is involved in health and well-being, and the prevention of osteoporosis. Insufficient levels of testosterone in men may lead to abnormalities including frailty and bone loss. Testosterone is also used as a medication to treat male hypogonadism and certain types of breast cancer.Since testosterone levels gradually decrease as men age, synthetic testosterone is sometimes prescribed to older men to counteract this deficiency. Testosterone is a steroid from the androstane class containing a keto and hydroxyl groups at the three and seventeen positions respectively. It is biosynthesized in several steps from cholesterol and is converted in the liver to inactive metabolites.[6] It exerts its action through binding to and activation of the androgen receptor. In humans and most other vertebrates, testosterone is secreted primarily by the testicles of males and, to a lesser extent, the ovaries of females. Small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. On average, in adult males, levels of testosterone are about 7–8 times as great as in adult females. As the metabolic consumption of testosterone in males is greater, the daily production is about 20 times greater in men. Females are also more sensitive to the hormone.

Application:

This Mouse Testosterone (T) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate T in samples. An antibody specific for T has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyT present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for T is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of T bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Features & Benefits:

Mouse Testosterone (T) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Mouse T. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Mouse T and analogues was observed.

Usage Notes:

• Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
• Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
• Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
• Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 °C in the sealed bag provided.
• Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
• It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
