DESCRIPTION: Mouse IgE Monoclonal Antibody, Isotype Control, Clone 2A101A12, unconjugated
Antibody characterization studies, such as inhibition of target proteins in in-vivo or in-vitro
studies, must use an appropriate isotype control antibody matched to the class and type of the
test antibody in order to properly interpret the results. Many researchers use the buffer that
dissolved the test antibody as a negative control, however this is not a sufficient control.
Because this isotype control has no relevant function, it works as a negative control to effectively
distinguish non-specific background reactions from specific antibody reactions. Non-specific
reactions are caused by 1) Fc receptors on cells, 2) antibody interaction with cellular proteins,
lipids, or carbohydrates, and 3) cellular autofluorescence.
Clone 2A101A12 (BALB/c IgE,κ) for use as an IgE isotype control in in-vivo and in-vitro studies.
