sicastar® particles are available with the nickel(II) chelator nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) for binding histidine-labeled proteins in the size range from 300 nm to 20 µm. Recombinant proteins containing a 6xhistidine tag can be purified using Ni-NTA chromatography. This purification is based on the interaction between nickel(II) ions on the particle surface and histidine side chains of the protein. The immobilized 6xhistidine-tagged protein can be washed and eluted by adding imidazole or EDTA or by lowering the pH.
The particles are supplied as a suspension in water without the addition of detergents.
